Two student teachers, Mr. Curt Sidorski and Ms. Jill Hartman, are collecting books to create a Little Free Library for Fox Elementary School. A Little Free Library is a book exchange where a student can take a book and then return a book. The books are usually stored in a small wooden box in a public place that people have easy access to.

They have collected a few dozen books already and are hoping to collect many more. Any excess books will be donated to the school library. They are hoping to have the design plans approved in December by the elementary school.

“We got the idea from another teaching candidate who was very passionate about the project,” Sidorski said. That teacher decided to make a career switch so Sidorski and Hartman took on the job of completing the project that she introduced.

The Little Free Library is a non-profit program that was started to increase a child’s access to books, build community relationships, and inspire a love of reading in young kids.
