The second annual Parent Summit was held on Thursday, March 8, 2018. There were over 50 sessions offered to inform the more than 700 parents that attended. The planning committee that included Dr. Nisha Patel and Mrs. Marilyn Jackson started planning immediately after the first one.

JP Prezzavento spoke at his session about how parents should deal with their kids and social media. “I want parents to feel empowered to understand what is going on on their phones and their kids’ phones,” Prezzavento said. He wants parents to be able to talk to their students about being safe online. “We’re learning along with our kids how to be good digital citizens,” Prezzavento said. He encourages teens and parents to learn how to properly use their phones and social media accounts.

“We at Fox C-6 want to build a partnership with our parents that helps our students be successful in our schools,” Patel said. They had presentations that were relevant to all parents with kids from Early Childhood all the way to seniors. She also encouraged parent feedback for the sessions they attended. “We are on a journey of always wanting to get better at what we do, and their voice is vital in this process,” Patel said.

She said that the feedback they have received so far was very positive in nature and parents are looking forward to attending the next Parent Summit in 2019.
